I tried it out after reading this post, and surprisingly, it had zero trouble telling me about myself. It instantly listed my novella and even my no-longer-available Kindle Vella stories (plus an erotica book written by someone who has the name name as me - I have nothing against that genre, but I wouldn't mind if it hadn't credited me lol). It was even able to immediately supply my Twitter account when asked, plus mentioning writing projects that aren't published but that I've Tweeted about.
Wow, very thorough! Twitter account question aside, how much prompting or how many additional follow-up questions were necessary to get some of that detail? Or did it give you all of that minus the Twitter bits with a single prompt?
I was just one prompt! I asked about my author name and it gave me a bullet-point list of all the above stories. It was also just one question for the Twitter account. I do have a pinned Tweet linking to my Amazon author page and a Linktree, but my actual Amazon page doesn't have any links to anything else, so I was surprised it didn't need any prompting to connect to the Twitter.
That's quite the return for a single prompt! I've got a few additional posts coming up that tinker with AI and explore what its responses suggest about what they're capable of (and what they're not). I'll be curious to see what you and others make of those posts and of these tools as we go!
Ryan — I loved your tongue-in-cheek approach to this post—it was so much fun to read! I've never ventured out to ChatGPT or “AI’d” myself, so it was fascinating to see what it knows (and doesn't know) about you. The hits and misses made for an intriguing read. Thanks for sharing!
So glad you enjoyed it, Laurie! Thanks for reading. If you *do* ever AI yourself, I'll be curious to know what ChatGPT knows about you and your Sean McPherson series, and how accurate it is. 👀
I'll have a follow-up post next weekend that walks through some hypotheses for *how* ChatGPT arrived at its conclusions as well, so stay tuned!
